Hi there! I am so glad you have landed here right now.

I’m Kiersten Warfield; a wife, daughter, sister, friend, and lover of all critters and things outdoorsy in the Charlotte, NC area.  I am also a Licensed Counselor in both North and South Carolina.

Since you’re here, there is a pretty good chance that you’re thinking about going to counseling.  You’re here looking at my website to see if I could be someone that could help you, someone who gets it, someone who will understand what you’re going through.

I’m no stranger to struggle, and came to counseling for the first time during my undergraduate years while juggling multiple responsibilities, grief, and the ever-growing feelings of depression and anxiety.

Of course life has thrown things at me since then, but this process is about you, not me.

I found counseling immensely helpful, and it drove me to start learning about how I could help others who were hurting. That’s why I went back to school and have chosen to go into this line of work.

I know. This first part is overwhelming.

You look through website after website, option after option…maybe thinking “This is too much”, “I’ll deal with it later”, or “How do I know this will even help?”.  The options are endless and blur together…so how do you know which counselor is right for you?  Or even if counseling is right for you?  It’s enough to make you give up before you even start.

Here’s the thing about counseling: what really matters is if you and your counselor can work together, that you feel understood, safe, and supported.  The relationship between us is the most important thing.

My backbone is Existential/Humanistic Theory, but I do use an integrative approach pulling from different types of therapies such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Person-Centered Therapy

Each client is unique and requires a unique and custom treatment plan.  None of us are ‘one-size-fits-all’, and I will never treat you that way.

Success in counseling is up to you.

The kind of clients who have been the most successful in therapy with me are people who come to me ready to work hard in and out of session.

They understand that I cannot just simply make their problems disappear, and that therapy is a collaborative relationship that requires work and a dedication to themselves.

They are sick and tired of feeling frustrated, angry, anxious, sad, or just plain uncomfortable and are ready to shed their old patterns and habits.
